Xspot: The Standard for Shades Installations
Updated: Oct 4
CEDIA made something very clear this year:
Shade manufacturers are looking for a better way to wire and finish their technology—and they’re choosing Xspot.
We were excited to be invited to partner and exhibit alongside some of the most respected names in the shade industry:
BTX — with 40 years of experience in commercial shading Modern Atomics — with its award-winning shade power supply technology Sombra Shades — offering nine styles of affordable shades and draperies Wolf Drapery — known for the beautiful fit and finish demanded in luxury homes
Shade Innovations (SI) --- innovative indoor and outdoor shades
Each brings something different to the market, but they share an important priority: giving their dealers a precise, efficient and professional way to install their technology. That’s where Xspot fits.
Contractors will now have the option to add a Shades XDrop through the accessory dropdown when ordering shades from participating manufacturers. Each XDrop contains what you need for one complete shade location—to wire, protect and professionally trim the cable.
XSPOT MANUFACTURER TRAININGS
If you’ve attended a Crestron or Graber shade training during the past two years, there’s a good chance you’ve already seen Xspot demonstrated as a solution to some very familiar installation problems—hanging wires, stuck wires and bulky preterminated cables. Screen Innovations (SI) has also been incorporating Xspot into its in-house dealer training.
At CEDIA, several of our new manufacturer partners also told us they plan to offer Xspot training this fall. We’ll be posting those dates and times on our Events page as they become available.
In October, we’ll also launch the Xspot Wiring Solution Series, a collection of live webinars organized by application:
Shades • Lighting • Cameras & Security • AV Indoor/Outdoor • HVAC & Controls • Commercial
The series will take a deeper look at Xspot's 40 different wiring solutions and recommend best practices.
PoE IS RAISING THE BAR FOR FIT & FINISH
CEDIA brought even more PoE shade motor solutions to the market, with manufacturers including BTX, Sombra, SI, Wolf, PowerShades, Savant and Somfy. As more power and data move directly to the window, the connection and final fit and finish matter more than ever.
That’s one of the reasons we created the XPOE grommet.
XPOE accepts keystone-style connections including RJ45, DC and USB-C, allowing the cable to terminate directly into the grommet instead of leaving a bulky connection hanging from the wall. An angled screw hole securely mounts XPOE into the wallboard, while a Snap Cap finishes the opening and conceals the cable connection.
For an even cleaner finish, slide the DropOut Cover over the XPOE. It flattens the wire and completely conceals the opening, can be painted to disappear into the wall, and is easily removed later for service.

THE XSPOT STANDARD
It’s a simple process that works for shades—and virtually every technology you install:
WIRE — Precisely place the (re-usable) Endpoint exactly where you want the technology to be installed.
PROTECT — Shield slack wire from spray foam, construction materials and other trades.
FIND — Locate the buried Endpoint and wire in minutes, accurate to ¼ inch and reuse the Xspot endpoint.
TRIM — Push the slack wire back into the opening and finish it with a purpose-built Xspot grommet.
No hanging wires. No unnecessary blank plates. No guessing where the cable ended up.
Just a better wiring infrastructure and a finish that matches the technology you’re installing.
START WITH A SHADES XPACK — WE’LL ADD THE TRIM
Order a Shades Xpack on the Xspot Dealer Store through October 2 and we’ll include a Trim Sampler at no charge.
No promo code needed—we’ll simply add it to your order.
And yes, the offer absolutely applies to our existing dealers. .
